Texas Tech University requires enrolled first-year students to live in the university residence halls. Additional information regarding the First Year On-Campus Residency Requirement may be found in OP 30.25.

Texas Tech has 18 residence halls on campus for our students to live in. They all differ in size, location on campus, and amenities.

In total, approximately 50 schools in the U.S. are currently allowing men and women to room together, though participation is still fairly low. The movement started as a way to better serve some gay, bisexual or transgender students who may prefer to live with a member of the opposite sex.

Other schools that allow men and women to room together include the University of California, Berkeley, the University of California, Riverside, Stanford, Humboldt State and the University of Oregon.
